Stingray 609 is your scaled V8 crate motor

Kamil Kaluski November 30, 2011 All Things Hoon 24 Comments

We were all in awe at the amazing hand-made UAZ 469B radio controlled car some time ago. About the only that would have made it more awesome would have been a proper internal combustion engine. Great news! Behold the Stinger 609! Displacing 6.09 cubic inches (almost 100cc), it is a fully functioning V8 engine. Unlike some other scaled engines, this has all the features of a conventional push-rod V8: it is liquid cooled, has dry-sump oiling system, electric starter, and a proper ignition system. You can even add a supercharger!

Specs and video after the jump.

    It's so cute!

Better hope this guy comes around when you inevitably blow the rings on the pistons and have to do a mini teardown and rebuild.

Seriously though, that's awesome! The mini roots blower is just… just… I'm at a loss for words.

Hell, it's worth a lot more than my truck.

  • Good to know, should I ever decide to resurrect my KV parts car as a sleeper.

  • Van_Sarockin

Impressive stats. But how many lives do those straight pipes save?

  • Alff

It's very cool but the cheapskate in me thinks about this for less than $300…

Very cool. That man is into his craft. There was a lot of money sitting that bench behind him.

Smart ForTwo swap? Smart ForTwo swap.

    • Raze1138

No, this demands a different chassis. A Shriner car.

        Wait, what?

Drop the supercharged version in, glue on a hood scoop and get ready to burn black plastic.

That stuff is so cool. I love miniature engines and cars that work. I saw a handmade mini Deusenberg engine that ran on fuel somewhere, not too long ago also. Great stuff, but expensive.

this+lawn mower= the coolest, most expensive lawn care apparatus ever,

I saw this one on boingboing a few days ago[youtube 3YfTtGCsiD8&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YfTtGCsiD8&feature=player_embedded youtube]

sadly it is not internal combustion, but seems to run on compressed air? An impressive bit of machine work anyway.

  • RogueInLA

    That's cool, this is cooler

    Hell, this is INSANE

This guy's work is incredible… 1/4 scale???? try 1/8th, and EVERYTHING is to scale, every nut, bolt, screw, everything but the spark plugs (they can't be scaled down that small)

This needs to go into a moped, stat.
