Hooniverse Cars of Neiman Marcus Weekend – The Rest of the Vehicles

Jim Brennan November 27, 2011 Weekend Edition

This will be my last Hooniverse Posting for the Cars of Neiman Marcus Weekend, and it will be sort of a clean up posting, with little to no details. There were a lot of cars that this exclusive chain promoted, but they seem to be going after a more exclusive clientele with their offerings of late.

Anyway, here is a listing of the Neiman Marcus Cars (and one cycle) I didn’t get to this weekend…

The 1997 GMC Suburban Sony Edition – I couldn’t really find out anything on this car…

The 2000 Audi TT Coupe. This was a 1.9L Front Wheel Drive version, so it really wasn’t all that special.

The 2001 Ducati 748L – I found some information here.

The 2001 BMW X5. In all my research, the only thing I could find is this article here.

The 2004 BMW 645Ci. The Limited Edition 2004 BMW 645Ci is featured on page 107 of the 2003 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book, and retails for $75,17o, was sold out in a little over six minutes. 50 were produced.

The 2011 Jaguar XJL – The all new 2011 Jaguar XJL Supercharged Neiman Marcus Edition, exclusively through the celebrated Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. 50 Produced at a list price of $105,000.

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible – Exclusive edition of just 100 Camaro convertibles is destined for glory. Priced at $75,000. All 100 of them were sold in three minutes.

The 2012 Ferrari FF – Exclusive, even for this rarified chain, selling at $395,000, with only 10 available. These sold out in under an hour.

I applaud your Neiman Marcus Weekend edition, Mr. Brennan. I didn't know about a lot of the cars being NM Christmas cars and found all posts very interesting. Job well done, sir!

We bought one of the TT Coupes from Neiman Marcus. When the cars arrived in May, they were the first TT's delivered in the States, so they really were special. In the six months that interevened, related trinkets came in the mail almost on a monthly basis. Probably the neatest thing was a set of limited edition prints by noted racing photographer Jesse Alexander.

Very cool. Here in Dallas we're proud of Neiman-Marcus. Stanley Marcus was a sales and marketing genius, witty and self-deprecating. I can remember as a kid reading about the NM Fortnights, a 14-day celebration with a different theme (from a different country) every year.

The TT was available as the 225 quattro- but the NM version was only offered with the 180 FWD base model save for the baseball interior. Which is odd compared to the rest of the NM cars.

Edit- saw Junkman's post and the exclusivity was that there were NO TTs in the US yet.

    (Also- it was a 1.8L engine. Not a 1.9)

What I don't get is who's BUYING these? Where do the cars end up? How the hell do they sell all twenty cars in six minutes? These special editions never seem to appear on the street or at car days around Boston.

'Round here, we may just lack the special tacky kind of nouveau riche that shop from the Neiman's catalog buying Swarovski-bejewelled everything and turbo his'n'hers special paint job cars. I think they mostly buy cottages on Nantucket, expensive boats and antiques, and fund "named" chairs in the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

    Forgot these… uh… motorized conveyances:
