Amazing handmade UAZ 469B RC truck

Kamil Kaluski November 14, 2011 Modern Art Monday 20 Comments

The UAZ 469B was originally developed for the Russian Army in the early seventies. It is a light, seven-passenger, 4×4 vehicle which is still manufactured today. While the UAZ has developed a following throughout the world, to us it perhaps best known for its movie cameos, particularly in many of the James Bond flicks. One Italian guy happened to simply fall in love with the robust UAZ.

Instead of simply buying one however, this guy decided to build his own. The result in one amazingly detailed UAZ radio-controlled model. The attention to detail is amazing: steel construction, operating vents, fuel doors, even the headlight lenses and seat frames look real. Not only do headlights work but the dashboard illuminates as well. Unreal.

After the jump is a 70+ image pictoral of the the built process and the final result. Warning, it may take a while to load but it is worth it.

Stole the absence of words right out of my mouth fingers(?) That is truly incredible and fascinating.

I wonder how well the functionality, especially the suspension, scales down. I would love to see it in action.

  2. Van Sarockin says:

Unbelievable. This guy deserves a full size UAZ as a prize. Though I would have kept the model in bare steel…

  3. VolvoNut says:

The attention to detail is impressive.
    Dude needs a girlfriend.

  4. julkinen says:

The attention to detail is so much better than on the 1:1 size ones. I know, I've driven and tried to fix some.

  5. IronBallsMcG says:

Everyone knows the UAZ 469B is not electric!

Just kidding. That is an absolutely amazing example of craftsmanship and patience.

Gonna have to go through all of those forum pages tonight. What I want to see is close-ups of the gauges. It's awesome. His sig includes thumbnails of some other R/C stuff, maybe some others he's built.

In Socialist Italy, man carries truck.

    My. Gawd.

    I can't believe the detail.

This makes my happiness of making the PS3 finally speaking properly to the Media Server look pretty retarded.

That is pretty amazing. The commitment to detail is unbelievable. I wonder how many hours he had into it.

Not impressed. If he was really good, it would have a fully functional miniature to scale internal combustion engine. I mean seriously, way to take the easy route…
