Friday Mystery Car
Okay, I know what you’re thinking, these Mystery Car contests are not even worth my time, they’re so easy. Well, today I’ve got one that’s so hard, so inscrutable in its diabolical cleverness and red-herring wild goose chase double cross that you’ll be pulling your hair out in frustration of not being able to crack th. . .
Oh who am I kidding, you’ve probably already figured it out. Go ahead, give it up – make, model, and engine, and I want ALL THREE this time. Don’t make me turn this blog around, people!
Go to it.

I think it's British.
Wrong – it's red, not orange.
A Ginetta G15 with a Hillman Imp or VW engine.

Oh man, you beat me by a minute.
Robert, what does he win?
One-piece wraparound nose to reduce the number of ill-fitting panel gaps?
The door cut lines don't look the same, and it's got a recessed pull handle, like the G21.
Fender flares, hint of a front bumper, the headlight bezel is body colored and the door handle is Miata-ish.
I got all that and still nuthin'.
The door handles don't match to the yellow one in the photo, but otherwise it looks pretty dead nuts.
If you google it you'll see they had some with different handles.
I'm thinking that this may be Miata-based. So, for 30%, I'm going Mazda 1.6L I-4
It's Ginetta, some (later?) cars had more modern looking door handles.

That's it.
The greenhouse makes it look like it could have built in someone's garage. Talk about your cottage car.
Definitely a G21 (foreground) not a G15 (behind). Being a G21, it had either a Ford Kent four , a 3l Ford V6 or a 1.7 Sunbeam Rapier four.
The wheels are a tad small to be an NSX
Totally.

I took time from my wonderful vacation to bring you this, guys. Have a great Labor Day weekend.
I have nothing to add to this discussion at this point so here is this:

That's not shift linkage hanging under there, is it?
Me like.
Oh god…the top of that engine just visible under the glass…there are no non-pornographic comparisons to be made.
In my opinion, it is the greatest looking car ever built.
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is automotive perfection.
You bastard – work is officially over for the day.
All I can add is that the Walklett brothers, who were based about twenty miles from here, AKA the Ginetta family, had an extremely attractive sister / daughter.
She was in my diploma year. Way out of my league.
just a confirmation y'all

That's a gorgeous little car. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need the G40R here in the U.S.
