Last Call- The Original Bridge to Nowhere Edition
Seemingly extending out to but a small flat island in the middle of a channel, the Øresund Bridge, which connects Denmark and Sweden, actually dives under water letting ships pass above both traffic and trains. The current toll for a car to take this sphincter-tightening crossing is 40 €.

That is brilliant. It's a slightly absurd solution, but an impressive one.

…or perhaps Ted Kennedy.

I have now added being able to utter that phrase to my bucket list. Thank you!
Hey. you gotta switch planes somewhere. Finnair is the only one that goes straight to Helsinki from the US, and I won't pay their prices.
The island, by the way, is artificial. It's called Peberholm (Pepper Island), because there's a natural island in that strait called Saltholm (Salt Island).
You have to put all the spoil from the tunnelling somewhere. Might as well make an island out of it.
