So Long and Thanks For All the Fish(tailing)

Hello there dear Hooniverse reader…I have some news I wanted to share with you.
This will be my last post for Hooniverse.com. I have been presented with a chance to write for a site which has a fucking huge fairly sizable presence, Autoblog.com. I will stick around in the background of the Universe of Hoon to try and sell the ad spaces you see currently filled with Google AdSense (if you are using Ad Block, would you be so kind as to turn that off for us?).
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank You, the reader of Hooniverse.com. I would not have this opportunity in front of me if you didn’t show up day in and day out, to read our content. Mr. Mad_Science and I created this site with the help of an excellent team of writers from around the country (even Canadia!) and the support of a beautifully loyal fan base. I honestly can’t thank all of you enough. I am taking a piece of Hooniverse with me to the new gig, hopefully in the form of ruining the tires of something fancy.
I truly love Hooniverse.com and I’m actually a little sad that I have to leave the editorial portion of my work here behind. However, I will check in everyday to see; the Showdowns of Mad_Science, the ridiculous questions posed by Mr. Emslie, the wonderful musings of Mr. Bell, the encompassing knowledge of Mr. Brennan, the excellent tales from Mr. Longroofian, the enthusiasm and prose of Captain Kierstein, the hilarious yet brilliant Mr. Rong, the well-crafted work from Mr. Tanshanomi, the 10-days behind the curve emails of Jo Schmo, the wonderful merchandise from First Lady of Hooniverse Amber (you might have to fight Mrs. Science for that though), and the awesome content from Mr. Lucio. Most of all however, I will miss the amazing spirit of welcoming and vast knowledge that our readership entails. This is the best community in all the interwebs and I am proud to have staked my claim in the automotive fringe…

Boooo…. er Hooray! Seriously though, good going man! So does that mean you get to do guest appearances in the Hooniverse now and then?
We will see… not for a long time I think though.
Thank you
Waiting to see an new contributor here with a funny name.
Jefferson G. Hoon? Too obvious, probably.
Good luck on your new job!
haha… thanks
Congratulations Jeff!
Wait, that kinda sucks, because I don't read Autoblog. Well, I used to a hundred years ago, but then it got "Autobloggy" and then the Hooniverse got split out of a massive Jalop-hole and I've been stuck here in this swirling mass of hooney plasma ever since. Happily I might add.
Then again… now that you are now writing for them, I just may have a great reason to go back and check it out.
Congratulations!f! Don't be a stranger… and… (snif) oh piss off hoser eh!
hahaha… Thank you
Geez, everyone's moving upstream. First Lieberman, now you!
I have to admit, I have not been an Autoblog reader either. I already waste too much time online reading this blog, J, etc. so I kinda have to pick my favorites, and Hooniverse is definitely one of them. I'll have to stop by Autoblog and take poke around occasionally.
Best of luck to you and I hope to pass you on the track in a crappy BMW (or a go-kart) sometime soon.
thanks Scott… we definitely need to head back to K1. I went there on my birthday recently… I got passed QUICKLY by some young kid who clearly knew how to drive (proper lines). I was chatting with him afterwards and he drives for Formula BMW… i felt MUCH better after hearing that.
sniff…sniff….just dust in my eyes, really.
Hate to see you go but glad you are continuing your career and passion!. I'll be following you there
You call this cotomer sevis?
Congratulations, Jeff, I'll definitely check out your work on Le Blog de Autos.
And in honor of this occasion, I'm even going to click on an ad.
haha, thank you.
Check out the new ad at the top of the page…click that one.
Well that gives me a happysad, and I'm afraid I've sprained my face. Good luck. I'll be watching and reading, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to post in that morass. Thanks for your work here!
All the best Jeff. I don't read the A'Blog that much these days but I'll look out for your pithy pieces. Cheers!
Thank you!
Good for you! Congrats. I'll start glancing over at there to see what is going on. Thanks for setting this place up and all of your hard work that has gone into it. Don't be a stranger, check back on the fringe that you help nurture.
will do, thank you
thanks!
Congratulations Jeff and all the best at your new gig. Thanks for being part of such an entertaining and cool webnomenon!
My pleasure, honestly… thank you
Be sure to make AB interesting, and don't be afraid to lay the smackdown on their crop of idiotic commenters. They ruin it for an otherwise good site.
haha, thank you.
don't forget about us here.
good luck to ya, and congratulations!
"Awesome" content? You are far too kind, good sir. And they're not not nearly as awesome as your own reviews have been. It's been an honor to be associated with you guys and I'm forever thankful for the opportunity and ya'll puttin' up with my slacker ass.
But your reviews have also shown this change of scenery is more than well-earned, so – keep on refining that "Hooniverse burnout script", it'll serve you well!
Congrats and remember, it's no fun if it's not off-camber…!
Your content may be "awesome" …but mine is "well crafted!"
I'm just glad he didn't say "I'll check in to read the awesome content while trying to avoid Tanshanomi's poorly crafted crapfests…"
hahaha
Best of luck, Jeff!
la la la! I can't hear you!!!!!
I still want to take pictures of your car… even if they are just for you and I to look at. Together. Holding hands. While drinking something sweet…
wait… what just happened
You bring the Lambic Framboise and I'll bring the blanket, maybe some cheese….
I guess the car too.
BTW, was at a spot last night with The Bruery's COTON on tap… like whoa.
You know the Bruery is right in Placentia?
Indeed I do. Just hadn't imagined they'd have beers on tap due to their badassery and craftsmanship. It was 14.5% of complex tastiness served in a 5oz. cobbler hahaha.
I also enjoyed several Deliriums… omnomnomnom
Yum…there is shit-ton of breweries within a 2hr radius that we need to explore.
I FINALLY went to Stone about two weeks ago…excellent
I. Blame. Charles.
Good luck and Godspeed. Autoblog's gain is our loss, but I know you won't be a stranger.
Who are you again?
A figment of your Canadian imagination…much like the Yeti and sunshine
"Sunshine"? What is this madness of which you speak?
Can I have your points?
Thank you, Jeff. Your content was always enjoyable and personally, I really enjoyed your car reviews. It has been quite a ride from that first review. You have grown as a writer and photographer, and I am glad you have the opportunity to move forward in your career. We should all be so lucky to do something we love for a living.
Cheers Jeff
haha, I think you have more than me anyway.
I appreciate your very kind words.
Words fail me…..so here's a picture of an old race car.

Could we say that finding the right words is a challenge?

Scroggs, you are so cool!
Perfect. Just perfect.
You should trademark the word "awesome"
Jeff, I am perfectly happy being "incomparable". Good luck at los blog del Auto.
Wait…something just happened…I felt a disturbance in The Force.
It's as if millions of voices just cried out in sorrow and were…
…no… wait… hang on…
Oh, never mind. It was just gas. Carry on!
Thank you for all your work creating the 'verse I look forward to visiting every day.
Godspeed.
thank you for reading!
We've already said our pleasantries (not really goodbyes, as he's coming to my house this weekend), but I just want to make it clear how much Jeff has done for this place.
Without him, we'd have no auto reviews. And while I know most of our commenters aren't about to run out and buy a new $30k++ crossover, we know you guys are "the car guy" wherever you go, and having some context on the new stuff is useful. Besides, how will you know what to buy 5 years from now, when they're all cheap?
Without him, we'd be operating on a much slimmer budget (meaning one that rounds down to zero).
Without him, we'd be shorter on content and writers, all-around.
Essentially, had he not come on board at the get-go, this would basically just be my hobby blog. Which would be cool and all, but it's better go big when you get the chance. Thanks for giving us that chance.
Hobby blog? In other words, if not for him, this would be tanshanomi.com and none of us would be here?
Hey, I read every single Snap Judgement, and now I just have to wait around for Two-Wheel Tuesdays.
I think some of the credit also has to go to Maurice, for driving the beautiful thing that he had headlong off a cliff.
But you're right. Jeffrey certainly managed to get me involved. Now if he'd just come up with a goddamned name.
poweroftheatom.com, see we don't need Jeff… I mean we will really miss him….
That's very exciting and gives me good reason to read the Blog of Auto. Though I will miss you here. Good on you, man. Good on you. And when you are world famous don't forget us little people.
Thank you good sir.
Good luck and best wishes to you in your new endeavor, Jeff…! Please don't be a stranger to these parts of the Interwebs… we enjoy reading your thoughts on whatever you think is worth writing about.
Thank you Charles
Will you be working for Damon Lavrinc? He's a good guy… and an incredibly cruel LeMons judge.
Hahaha… yes I will.
I suppose this will give me a reason to lurk another blog!
sweet!
So… does this mean I have one fewer guest room to inhabit when I come to California finally?
Yep. You're now at -1.
But Buddy the Dog will keep you warm in the yard at night.
Hey, I thought his name was Boomer?
Congrats my friend!
This sucks.
I'm afraid I may have to start reading the Autoblog now, just like Graverobert's PCH posts are half the reason I read J* during the week.
Best of luck, Braff. It was great having you here, and I know I'm not alone in hoping you return on rare occasions, or at least stick around as a commenter. Wherever the road ahead of you leads, I know you'll be successful.
Thank you!
I have never thought to call him Graverobert by the way….I like that.
I have mixed feelings about seeing Jeff bolt over to Auto Blog. Both Tim and Jeff have molded this slice of heaven into a destination site, not just an automotive site. Where else can you get this type of content, without the other bullshit that some other sites have you weed through. Where else can you get Modern Art Mondays, Two-Wheel Tuesdays, Submission Thursdays, Encyclopedia Hoonatica, My Eleanor Stories, and Diesel Fumes? I'm sad that Jeff is leaving the day to day duties here.
However, leaving this destination for a place that has a wider audience will help his career path, and we here at Hooniverse should not stand in the way of that. We all should be happy that Auto Blog has tapped someone so talented to help fill their blog with content. Someone has already said this, but it bears repeating: Our loss is their gain.
Best of luck Jeff in your new endeavor. See you this November in Las Vegas (if you're going to SEMA!)
I feel the same way friend… thank you
I don't know about SEMA yet.
Congratulations! Keep chasing the passion! I don't comment here much, but check in often. Now I'll have to check in on Blog d'auto from time to time.
Thanks dude
Congratulations Jeff! I think I speak for all of us when I say I can't thank you enough for co-fathering this petrolhead paradise rendered in 1s and 0s, not to mention letting us inmates from running the asylum to an extent (I do wish circumstances allowed me to do more than just comment here, but they haven't of late.).
Anyway, go forth and make Der Blog des Auto cool(er), and don't forget to stop by here and at any of the little gatherings we stage in that bright, scary place called outside. Play him off, girls!

Thanks Tom
I feel the power of journalism is strong with this one. . .
haha… we'll see.
While there are plenty of places to get a mix of auto news and fun coverage/commentary in one, think of Autoblog + Hooniverse as the reading equivalent of having very well sorted practical car for commuting and/or kid hauling and something absurd and fun for the rest of the time.
Good Luck!
All the best to you Jeff.
Thanks John…keep writing good stuff here, we love having you
Godspeed and God bless, Jeff. I hope that you have good fortune on your journey through the blogosphere, just don't forget us little guys you used to share the trenches with. I mourn Hooniverse's loss as I celebrate your triumph, and it gives me no small amount of conflicting emotions. Look me up next time you're in MI and I'll buy you a beer or three.
Thank you good sir… I hope to head to MI for the first time EVER around the time of the Detwah Auto Show
You should really try and make it out for the re-scheduled Orphan Car Show! I would gladly supply a round of pints as well!
Thanks Jeff for the reviews; you helped me figure out picture posting etc, and I hope your pis will continue on Autoblog!!
So long Jeff, see ya around.
I wish I hadn't been so late to this party, so much of your stuff from way back when is deserving of a good read over, and over again
You have achieved much, and will continue to do so. Salutations from Frinton-On-Sea.
Thank you good sir…I am VERY happy your work is appearing here btw.
Best of luck Jeff. I've had autoblog on my mac bookmarks bar for a long time, I check it a few times every day. Apologies for the lack of submissions lately, I've been in hospital. All the best, Mark Goddard, Sydney.
Thanks Mark – keep in touch. Hope you are doing alright
Congratulations and good luck with your new endeavors!
I am sure we will all drop by to see your work on Autoblog.
Thanks Dr.
I think I still have my Autoblog login from another life…
Maybe if we all clicked on ads here enough, you guys can hire Jeff back? (And get Lieberman, and get McElroy and whoever else?)
Good luck, Mr. Glucker!
Ladies and gentlemen, Jeff has officially entered significance.
Congrats mate, and you better buy something awesome with that increased paycheck.
haha, thank you.
The paycheck hasnt gone up much though
Excellent, and Congratulations!
Well Braff, we'll add the autoblog tab to our firefox, good luck.
thank you
Your Welcome! and have a fun Labor Day Weekend!
There's a sad sort of clanging
From the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple too,
And up in the nurs'ry an absurd little bird
Is popping out to say "coocoo".
Regretfully they tell us,
But firmly they compel us
To say goodby to you.
So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, good night,
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight.
So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, adieu,
Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu.
So long, farewell, Au'voir, auf wiedersehen,
I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne
So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, goodbye,
I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye,
Good bye
I'm glad to go,
I cannot tell a lie.
I flit, I float,
I fleetly flee, I fly.
So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye,
Goodbye,
Goodbye,
Goodbye!
Thank You for Support………..
And off to CELEBRATE LIFE you go……..

Now that I can haz better Internetz, I can share with you my heartfelt joy towards your new found success! Best of luck to you at Autoblog! We will miss you here! I will be sure to stop in and visit you as soon as you get settled in over there! Autoblog will now be a better place for having you. May God bless you as you travel towards your new success, good sir!
Autoblog huh? I don't even remember what my ID was on that site, it's been that long. Hopefully, you will "hoon-up" the place a little with your style of writing, the guys there seem to take themselves waay to seriously. Good luck and godspeed!
Thanks for all your work on Hooniverse, and good luck with Autoblog Jeff.
