V.I.S.I.T. – What are the Odds? Edition

Anybody remember "Stompers"? Yeah. I still want one. Oh, I mean full-size like this.

I had to leave work early today to meet my better half; ’twas a scheduled meeting to lend spousal support for a medical consultation, and I knew when to meet her and what it was for… but she neglected to tell me the place.   I knew it was with a specialist, but that only narrowed it down to a few square city blocks.   She also served me comeuppance by refusing to answer the phone as I asked for specifics; if you heard the succession of voicemails you’d have a case study in how one’s demeanor transforms from bemusement (Ha ha, you forgot to tell me where to go, dumbass!) to frustration (Dammit, I’ve driven all over God’s forsaken part of Frankfort for the last 15 minutes – where the #&*# are you?!)

Only after punching my ticket to the doghouse (frequent flyer program, woo!) did I remember the new Frankfort Medical Pavilion, where I finally found a certain MN12 Thunderbird lurking about.    As well as an all-too-rare glimpse of something else, which instantly and happily forgave all sins: apparently I was meant to be lost and late for a reason on AMC Day, of all days!   Once we finally crossed paths, my wife even asked to make sure I saw it too.   Yes indeed – and not for the first time actually, but only finally now sitting still.    Too bad the rain and portico shade made for a crappy cellphoto, but beggars can’t violate HIPPA regs hold up old ladies in the doorway get choosy when faced with one of AMC’s Wackiest…

The AMC Eagle SX/4: Factory Redneck was never cooler.

AMC:  fostering marital bliss, Mitch’s Javelin Jailbait or no.

Effing hot. Christ, I WANT this.

  4. Hey! I have the same increasing manicness in repeated voicemails and missed calls too!! One of the most frustrating things in the world in my opinion…

    tag win as well

now for the SX/4… it's just about perfect! it's like a modern day hoon had an old CRX and a Samurai and just wished to drive them both… FTW

  5. Remember, I know where you sleep at night and the food you eat, and all those great things.

But see, if you hadn't had such an adventure, look what you would have missed out on!!!!.

  6. (ps sorry the phone was *in* a certain MN12….)

  7. Like the wrangler wheels, somehow looks right.

The only way it could be more perfect is if it somehow had a Jeep 4.0 swapped in that was stroked with a 258 crank ( basically, a VAM Lerma bore/ stroke combo), and had a small turbo on it.

There used to be 5-6 AMC Eagles (probably none an SX/4) In a guys driveway beside a building I was working on a few years ago, this just inspired me to take a drive this weekend to see if they are still there (hopefully they arnt all iron puke powered)

Thanks for the memories of when these used to roam the streets of the snow covered Canadian prairies:)

  12. I really like the SX/4 and I like those wheels, but that's just too much tire without a slight lift. Same deal with Fuzzy's Kammback pic.

Stompers! I've been trying to remember what those little trucks were called for years. Something tells me the toys were more reliable than the AMC Eagle (but not quite as much fun to play with).
