The Beebe & Mulligan Fighting Irish dragster team was one of the most potent of the late 1960s. John “The Zookeeper” Mulligan’s untimely death of heart failure following a fiery 171-mph crash in September 1969, ended his 7-year partnership with fellow Garden Grove resident Time Beebe, and left the So Cal drag community stunned. You can read more about that partnership and the Zoo’s career here, and, after doing so, you just might want to raise a glass in Mulligan’s honor tonight.
