1973 Chevy Laguna For Sale1973 Chevy Laguna For Sale

Ever found yourself attracted to someone or something when you know you shouldn’t be? Such is this 1973 Chevy Chevelle Laguna. Not a particularly handsome body style, ridiculous yellow paint topped off with a ridiculous wing, and I can’t get enough of it. It’s probably how the fenders drape perfectly over the black steelies. Seriously, I wouldn’t change a thing. Ok, I’d probably repaint it black, were it actually  my early malaise-mobile, but that’s it. Underneath, it’s got the standard warmed-up 350ci + TH350 combo. The interior’s decent, but then again smell doesn’t transfer well online. It did a few rounds on eBay before finally going for $4,200 over the weekend.  Guess the vintage racer duties will have to fall to the Falcon

  1. Surely I can't be the only one that thinks the Chevelle Laguna front end looks like a supersized Mustang II.

  2. Wow, it's about halfway to being a life size version of one of my favorite Matchbox cars, the Pepsi Challenger!

I can honestly say that is the nicest looking colonnade Chevy I've ever seen. It is the Queen Latifah of '73 Lagunas.

  4. Texan_Idiot25 says:

Everyone knows how much of a die-hard Chevrolet lover I am… and I have never seen this car, or even heard of it's name before.

  5. LTDScott says:

How much for a Hawaiian Tropic paint job? I can st-stutter.

  6. That iconic collonade styling has aged well, especially in profile, but the Chevy version is hideous. For a look at how it should be done, see Oldsmobile or dare I even say Buick.

That said, I would so not have any qualms about driving this whatsoever. Or even owning it for a short (keyword, that there is) time.

  7. Joe Btfsplk says:

Needs a light-up pizza delivery sign for the roof and a smart-ass punk in the driver's seat. Maybe the sign is in the trunk, anyone look?

  8. Utterly craptastic cars, but I did love the Colonnades. Best and worst of the 1970s. My favorites were the Grand Am and the 1975 Laguna, proof that GM could comply with the 5mph bumper laws with some approximation of style. A real rarity is the Laguna-front El Camino, which just pushes all of my buttons.

I'd swap the Pep Boys spoiler for an old-school blade and paint it in a less-loud color, but otherwise, it's perfect.

I have to admit that when I was fifteen I did a neutral-drop in one of these and the driveshaft fell out. I wasn't sorry then and I am not sorry now. That car was baby blue but I might have liked it more if it had been painted sulfur and wing.

That thing is hideous. It's downright abhorrant. I love it. Seriously, how insane is it that this '70s monstrosity in all its malaisy glory is decked out into a Trans Am-ish (not to be confused with "trans-amish") racer with a ridiculously modern wing?

I'd paint it brown and name it Beatrice.

I myself can't can't can't get enough of the olds cutlass of the same vintage with the weird flares at the bottom.

It looks like the hero's ride in a Tarantino flick.

  14. Allen Kitchell says:

I owned a 73 Chev. Laguna, my first car, bought in 1983 for $500, it had 60k miles, a landau top with rust holes underneath the cloth, you could stick your head through if it weren't for the headliner. 2 months of body work, medium metalic corvette blue paint, and a set of Fenton slots made that boat a head turner. I destroyed it going airborne over a set of railroad tracks, it hit so hard it broke the bell housing and flywheel on impact.
